CHIETI, ITALY, Reuter: World 200 meters record holder Pietro Menner still harbours hopes of competing in his fifth ‘Olympics next month despite leg muscle trouble and disappointing comeback attempts.

After pulling out of a meeting here on Sunday because of a muscle injury in his right leg, the 36 year old Italian said he was still aiming to make the Seoul team,

“But if T have to miss Seoul I will carry on running…. won’t make a big fuss about ity” he told reporters.

Menner, who set his world record of 19.72 seconds at altitude in Mexico City in 1979, started a comeback last summer but has been struggling to run below 21 seconds,

“I am going to ask the (Italian Athletics) Federation for help in getting the best doctors who I hope will get me into shape 4s soon as possible,” he said,
