BANGKOK, Thailand: Metro Politian launched their biggest sweep against criminal gangs to day to halt a recent series of robberies.
About 6,000 to 7,000 policemen mobilized for the crackdown supervised by the police Crime Suppression Center. Last week two bank robberies netted $105,660, increase in security before the July 27 general elections for a new parliament.
One potential candidate and four canvassers have been murdered since May 1 when parliament was dissolved and the elections were scheduled.
