NEW DELHE: “It was a preplanned attempt to defame and insult me as I was ‘one of the strongest players in the tournament,” an enraged Manmeet Singh said here on Friday about his walk off after being penalized for faulty service during the men’s team event against Bank of India in the Inter Bank Table Tennis Tournament in Bombay earlier this week.

‘The reigning national champion who stormed out of the tournament in a huff without participating in the open events Charged the organizer of trying to discourage institutional players.

Defending his action, Manmeet Singh said his team, New Bank of India, had blanked Bank of Tokyo in the first encounter where an opponent played with a racquet having no ITTF stamp.
