LUDHIANA: Mr Manjit Singh president All-India Sikh Students Federation claimed here June 2 that there was a strong wave in favor of the federation poll candidates.

Addressing newsmen Mr Manjit Singh denied having struck any deal with Mr Subodh Kant Sahay Union Minister of State for Home Affairs regarding the latter’s entry into the election fray from the Ludhiana parliamentary constituency. Mr Nirmal Singh Dhillon now lodged in jail was the nominee of the federation and he had opened his election offices at Dakha and Ludhiana Sunday. There was no question of withdrawing Mr Nirmal Singh he said. He also denied that he had ever met Mr Sahay .I have only seen his picture in the newspapers.

Mr Simranjit S Mann and others opposed to him had started making false allegations out of desperation He alleged that their Opponents were engaged in the killing of federation candidates. Two federation candidates had been killed so far he said.

The AISSF chief said that election was not the final goal of the federation. This was rather a mean to achieve certain objectives and fight the tyranny of the government. He said the federation was united and only a few government agents were leaving it

Mr Manjit Singh said they were in the process of holding negotiations with the Akali Dal (Badal) on seat adjustment. But there were no talks going on with Mr_ Amarinder Singh or the Bahujan Samaj Party.

The poll manifesto of the federation would be released soon he said.

Mr Manjit Singh accompanied by other leaders of the federation Sunday launched the campaign of the federation candidate for the Ludhiana Lok Sabha and Vidhan Sabha seats. He addressed election meetings at Dakha and Ludhiana.
