NEW DELHI: Rajeev Goswami is back on center stage. He won the Delhi University Students Union (DUSU) presidential election clearly proving that the Mandal agitation was alive and here to stay ‘This victory proves that the students want the report rejected. I will now work to get V P Singh arrested”
Goswami’s panel also bagged the vice president’s post with its candidate Ramakant beating his nearest Akhil Bharaitya Vidhyarthi Parishad rival by 500 votes. The ABYP however bagged the posts of secretary and the joint secretary. For the secretary’s post by more than 7000 votes. Ajay Chauhan scraped past his nearest National Students Union of India (NSUI) candidate by just about 600 votes.
The NSUI’s performance was disappointing. Bagging two posts in the last elections and also managing to woo the independent president Anju Sachdeva-into its fray it won nothing this year. Senior NSUI leaders washed their hands off the defeated.
