A Sad Story For your compassionate consideration and help to locate the gentleman.

This is a very sad and touching story of a young army major who got voluntary retirement to  put his life on more sure track of progress.

Sudhneet Singh Walia was granted commission in the Armed Forces of India in 1974. During his training he acquired seven special qualifications, He was put on six prestigious missions and was sent abroad more than once, in his service and had three awards   his credit. He attained the rank of a Major. He was graded as an intelligent and a very capable officer. On his own request, he was granted premature retirement and was released in 1989.

He shifted his residence from Batala to Mohali, near Chandigarh, in the Punjab, after taking P.C.S, (Punjab Civil Services) Examination, in 1991. He was declared successful on July 1, 1992, and was ordered to appear for medical examination and join duty as P C S. Officer.

As the luck would have it, he had left home on May 26, 1992, evidently on an army mission, to leave for Bangkok and was to return in a week’s time, He was to collect his passport, air ticket, briefcase from the Army. Headquarters Delhi and fly at midnight of May 28, 1992. He did not reach the Headquarters Office at the appointed time. Brigadier Srivastava ‘was contacted and he assured that no harm would befall the Major. On September 16, 1992, Col Manimala informed that the Major Walia was safe but on September 26, 1992, it could be presumed from Brig Srivasta a the Major was being shifted from Red Fort, Delhi to Chandigarh and that his life was at the mercy of the police top brass K.P.S. Gill. On Oct. 21, 1992, Col Manimala told that Sudhneet Singh was all right and was staying at the C.R.P.Mess at Chandigarh .

On June 4, 1993, father of the Major, submitted an application to D.G.P. .K.PS, Gill: On August 18, 1993, Sohan Sing A S.I Police and on Feb 1, 1984, Gehl Singh, A.S.I. Police, made inquiries from his father who met Director General Police K.PS, Gill, with political leaders on Oct. 10, 1994, and resubmitted the ‘copy of his application on Oct, 11, 1994, On Oct, 18, 1994, Swaran Singh, Reader to the D.S.P. Ajay Manuja informed about the Injury of be day the D.S.P., recorded detailed statement of the Major’s father. He made a petition to the Governor Punjab on January 4, 1995. On March3, 1995, he went to the Special Staff Office of the police where police inspector Swaran Singh had been deputed to continue the inquiry.

Father of the young retired Major is Dr. Tarlochan Singh. He is resident of Add a Umarpura, P.O and Villus Tehsil Batals, District Gurdaspur (Punjab, India). He had been knocking at every door to have a glimpse of his son. He is extremely disappointed and dejected but still hopes that one day his son will come back. ‘Mother of the Major has become a skeleton in worry and anxiety and is very apprehensive of the safety of her son. Mrs. Sudhneet Singh has gone into perpetual silence due to depression arising from the uncertainties. One feels very sad to see their innocent children can anybody become an instrument of solace by telling the whereabouts of this young, hence come and healthy man?
