CHANDIGARH India: Special Maharashtra police parties have been dispatched to the Akoli Taluka of Bhandara district in Maharashtra to search for Harjinder Singh Jinda and his companion who are the chief suspects for the murder of Gen. Vaidya. The police are working on the lead provided by one Bhola Singh who was arrested earlier from a tourist bungalow in Bhandara district. The police are combing the thick jungles in the Akoli Taluka. Police circles feel that they are hiding in that jungle after escaping from the tourist bungalow where Bhola was nabbed. Harjinder is reportedly armed with a stengun. According to police sources Harjinder and his companions came to Balgaum district in Karnatka state after murdering Gen. Vaidya and stayed in a tourist bungalow at Khanpura This information was given to Goa police by the owner of the bungalow. The owner was summoned to identify Shiv Kumar Trikha who was arrested from a temple. Police suspects that Shiv Kumar is actually Harjinders companion Suk minder Singh “Sukhi”.
Investigation Bureau and Intelligence Bureau have informed various state governments to check on the information supplied by the arrested “Shiv Kumar” They have also sought the help of Interpol in this case.
Trikha was arrested from a temple in Goa. Police considers it a fictitious name because in one of the hotels where they stayed the booking was in the name of R.P. Singh.
Meanwhile security arrangements around Lt Governor of Goa Dr. Gopal Singh Dardi have been tightened.
