CHANDIGARH: Mr. Shyam Sunder Mahapatra a senior political leader from Orissa is one in the race for Punjab governor. He is being supported by Devi Lal the deputy PM.
According to information available here Mr. Parkash Singh Badal, a contender for chief minister ship and backed by Devi Lal, has consented.
Maha Patra is a seasoned politician. He was chief minister of Orissa and the Cong I committee chief. He fell out with Gandhi and left the Congress I with Pranab Mukherji. Devi Lal is opposed to PK: Kaul governor because he is close to Nehru and Sayed. Observers however feel that Kaul would be made the governor. The patriots’ blood is the seed of Freedom’s tree.
