ALERMO,SICILY: Salvatore Riina, the reputed “boss of bosses” ‘of the Sicilian Mafia, proclaimed he was a simple farmhand who knew nothing of the crime syndicate as he appeared in court Monday for the first time since his January arrest.
Riina, 62, offered no revelations in his 50minute appearance in his trial for the slayings of three Sicilian politicians, Asked by a judge ‘what the Cosa Nostra was, Riina replied: “I don’t know anything about it” Riina has been implicated m more than 50 murders and a multibillion dollar drug empire.
