NEW DELHI: Lt. Gen. B.C Joshi, AVSM, PVSM, general officer commanding in chief Western Command, will be the next army chief.

He will take over on July I from Gen.S.F.Rodngues, who retires on June 30, an official announcement said.

Commissioned in December 1954 in the armored corps, Lt. Gen Joshi has held important command and staff appointments which include staff officer in the United Nations Emergency Force in Gaza and military advisor in Australia.

Another Brahmin is being appointed the Chief of the Army. The Indian government and bureaucracy is tightly controlled by Brahmins, the highest of Indian Castes.
