NEW DELHI: A bill seeking to set up the institution of Lok pal (people’s council) to look into complaints of corruption against the prime minister and his council of ministers was introduced in the Lok Sabha.

Law and justice minister Dinesh Goswami, while introducing the bill, said the proposed Lok Pal institution would consist of a chairman and two members, “only members who are or have been Judges of the Supreme Court would be eligible for appointment to the body,” he said.

Goswami said it was also proposed that in case of complaints against a minister, the competent authority should be the prime minister to decide about the action.
