Gorbochev hardly deserves any peace award

DEAR EDITOR:

It is ironic that Soviet Secretary General M. Gorbochev has been given “Indira” peace award, a man Whose administration has been directly responsible for the mess in Afghanistan, where millions of Afghanis have died fighting each other.

It is more ironic that a peace award has been set up in memory of late P.M. Indira Gandhi, whose violent and vicious temper was responsible for the mess in Punjab, which has resulted in the deaths of thousands of Sikhs since 1984 and now demand for “Khalistan.”

Her last drop of blood is not invigorating India as she had hoped but her & present policies of brutal suppression are only dividing India.

Peace does not come by suppressing Human Rights and later giving awards to the most cruel and vicious leaders of our times. Suppression only leads to more alienation and finally the formation of new countries such as “Bangladesh” when the time is ripe.
