NEW DELHI: The Communist Party of India (CPI) intends to meet the leadership of CPI (M) to sort out differences over the issue relating to the recent developments in the Soviet Union CPI national council secretary and M.P. Chaturanand Mishra said here Sunday.

Mishra said his party was hopeful that the Soviet Union would be able to defend the socialist system based on democracy.

He said he welcomed the reunion of the Soviet republics and hoped they would be able to further consolidate their position.

Mishra said he hoped the Soviet Union would continue to maintain the age-old friendly relations with India.
