LOS ANGELES, CA: Over eight thousand people graced the occasions and a total of $150,000 was collected. Sardar Didar Singh Bains generously donated 61,000.00 April 14th.

Los Angeles Gurdwara was inaugurated by Jathedar Akal Takhat, Prof, Manjit ‘Singh on April 14 at9 a.m. This Gurdwara ‘was completed after struggle of 10 years ‘and at a great expense of $4 million, The Gurdwaras building is a unique white building with an authentic Sikh design. It has a grand entrance, with Keshen Nissan in the front, large hall, « library, kitchen, and living quarters for Giani Ji and visitors. ‘This Gurdwara actually is the main ‘Gurdwara on Vermont Avenue in N. Hollywood, “Highlight of the program was kirtan by Jathedar Sahib and over 30 other jathas sang the Gurbani Kirtan. *Dr. Amit Singh reports from Los Angeles that there was an unbroken line of devotees which approximated 8 Thousand as a whole. All of the Los Angeles area gurdwaras participated. “Sardar Didar Singh Bains, President of W.S.O. lived up to his reputation of a great philanthropist and donated $51.000.00 on the occasion and with his $10,000, last six thousands total $61,000.00. The Sangat authorized the managing committee to give siropa of honor to Sardar Didar Singh Bains. Also large sums were donated by representatives of Sangats of Caruthers, S. Charanjit .S. Bath, of Selma; Sardar Baldev Singh Sangha and S, Bakhshish ‘Singh Banwait of Sacramento, Also Sangat came from Bakersfield, Livings ion, Riversider, San Diego, Sikh Dharma Sangat dedicated the Darbar Sahib and by beating the drum Nagara during the procession of the new Gurdwaras, which gave a true Khalsa feeling of Guru Gobind sigh spirit All day continuous Langar was served, this was a dream come true for Los Angeles Sikhs.
