Devi Lal is a fascinating person, especially because of his rustic humor and earthy wisdom. The Chief Minister comes out with “gems” of political analysis which endear him to friends and critics alike. Here’s an instance; “Indira Gandhi had two sons, Ekbeta was groomed to run the country but he tan the plane and crashed … The other beta was trained to pilot a plane but has been put to the task of piloting the country and the country is about to crash.”
A wag told about this gem above, immensely enjoyed it and then added: “Haryana’s plight is worse. All these years the bibi (Bhajan Lal) Bansi Lal was running the State; now the bete (of Devi Lal) are doing the job.”
