NEW DELHI(PTI): To curb the racing streak in the city bus drivers, the Delhi high court has ordered that all passenger buses should have speed governors by the month end.

It said speed governors are to be installed “in all buses playing in Delhi private and government run.

The city’s “redline” bus drivers, in their bid to woo passengers, has run over more than 100 people this year. The buses have become so notorious for skipping signal lights, disobeying traffic rules and speeding that people have dubbed them “killer buses.”

The court also ordered that all buses must obtain pollution control certificates by the month end which must be renewed after every three months.

It said all bus drivers should attend a refresher course and undergo a proficiency test a the government run motor driving training school.
