LONDON: To celebrate Khalistan Day, UK Sikhs hosted an International Convention at the Sri Guru Singh Sabha, Sheehy Way, Slough in Berkshire. After discussion and deliberations, they passed 15 resolutions.
Among them: The Sarbat Khalsa held at Akal Takht Sahib in Amritsar on 26th January 1986 elected a PANTHIC COMMITTEE of five members and vested in the said Committee the authority to fill in any vacancy that might arise due either to death or defection by a consensus vote.
This convention pledges its full support to that COMMITTEE in discharge of the mandate given to it on 26th January 1986,
On 29th April 1986 that Panthic Committee made public the resolve of the Sikh nation to constitute itself in a sovereign state that shall bear the name Khalistan. ‘That day was designated as Khalistan Day.
This convention on the fourth anniversary of that historic occasion, pledges its full support to the ideal of that sovereign state and urges that all those individuals parties and organizations that oppose the said ideal shall be given no recognition nor co-operation of any kind,
This convention notes that the Government of India is actively involved in setting up squads, recruiting murderers and spreading mayhem in the Land of Khalsa. This convention warns the government of India and India’s new Prime minister that perpetrating violence and placing its responsibility at the doors of Khalistan freedom fighters to discredit the Sikh nation shall not succeed. This convention, therefore, urges the Rulers of New Delhi to desist from their diabolical schemes of state terrorism and seek the path of peace.
This convention urges Sikhs all over to institute an economic boycott of India as a peaceful step towards the establishment of Khalistan by: (a) stopping to provide any agriculture surplus,
(b) Withdrawing all deposits from Indian banks; and
(c) Establishing and utilizing advantageously Sikh financial institutions worldwide.
This convention pays homage to all those martyrs who have made the supreme sacrifice in the struggle for Khalistan. This convention urges all national governments to link their aid and trade programme with India according to its human rights record.
