GURDASPUR: LtGen Sarbjit Singh Uppal of the KCF has called upon those who migrated from villages in Punjab to return. He assured the minority community members that militant organisations would ensure their safety.

In a message read out at the bhog ceremony of Gurnam Singh, who was killed following a Lathi charge, he sounded a warning to those indulging in extortions. He also warned the “Black Cats” to stop their operations to terrorize the people and defame militant organisations.

The people were asked to contact the area commander whenever a letter of extortion was received by them. The militant organisations would provide security and deal with the mischievous elements accordingly. Their was complete harmony among various militant organisations and they would launch a joint programme.

Later, Nishan Sahib was raised at the site where a gurdwara is proposed to be built in memory of Gumam Singh. His widow was honored with siropas and cash rewards from various organisations and panchavats.
