POONCH: Over 200 young women from Kashmir were getting training on arms in special camps in Azad Kashmir, top official sources said.

This came to light in the course of interrogation of subversives rounded up in the border districts of Rajouri and Poonch recently, officials said.

The sources said women and girls aged 16 and 20 were being trained in the handling of small weapons and explosives in these camps organized for them by the Pakistani government, the sources said,

One woman, who was apprehended in the five Km border belt, also confirmed that training was imparted to women, most of them belonging to Kashmir valley,

Most of these women owed allegiance to Kukhtrn I Millet (daughters of Islam), a front ranking women organization in Kashmir headed by Aisiya Amin, the sources said.

Some of these women have completed training and are now waiting at several points across the border for chances to sneak into the Indian side, according to these sources.

Meanwhile, director general of police J.N. Saxena told newsmen at Srinagar some girls have gone across the border for arms training though none of them have returned.
