LUCKNOW: The twin cities of Ayodhya and Faizabad in Uttar Pradesh Sunday came under a tight security blanket as the state chief minister Mulayam Singh Yadav warned the followers of the Shankaracharya of Dwarka that they would be arrested if they tried to go ahead Monday with the “Shilanyas” foundation stone laying ceremony of the controversial temple in Ayodhya.
Meanwhile chief minister said that the government would move the court for seeking an extension of the seven day judicial remand of the Shankaracharya Swami Swaroopanand Swaraswati.
Meanwhile, former federal minister and Indian ambassador to America Dr. Karan Singh Sunday asked the government to release without delay the Shankaracharaya of Dwaraka Swami Saroopanand.
Dr. Singh in a statement issued here, said the arrest and continued detention of Swami Saroopananda “has been most unfortunate.” “To keep him in jail any longer will further injure the sentiments of millions of Indians throughout the country,” Dr. Singh said.
