NEW DELHI: Expressing his “deep anguish” over the utterances of Ms, Sonia Gandhi at Amethi recently and the ‘Vohra Committee’s report on the Nexus among criminals, government functionaries and politicians, noted dati and Member of Parliament Ram Jethmalani Sept. 3rd announced the formation of a new party, one Which would “rid the country of its evils.” Addressing a meeting as the “patron” of Bharatiya Lok Panchayat, Jethmalani said he wanted young crowds to join him. “I want at least one educated person in each constituency. This country is in a bad shape; it’s a manmade, and nota God made, calamity… Today we have become an international joke, we are getting deeper and deeper into external and internal debts.”

Hitting out at Prime Minister Narasimha Rao, Jethamalani said he ‘Was in league with the criminals calling the shots. “This country is not in the safe hands, it’s in the hands of those who ought to be in jail.”

Focusing his impassionate speech ‘on Ms. Sonia Gandhi, he inquired: “What is she ci about? Doesn’t she know who killed Rajiv Gandhi. We all know it was LTTE, the outfit Warned and trained in the first place and then got 1200 of our soldiers killed by it.”

Lashing at Ms. Gandhi, he said the woman was not concerned about what happened to 3,000 people who were bum alive in the city (during November 1984) anti-Sikh riots in the aftermath of Indira Gandhi’s assassination, She is not worried about the widows and orphans of these people.”

Jethmalani maintained that at the time Ms. Gandhi addressed the people in Amethi, the Swiss authorities had ‘decided to hand out the details of Bofors payoff recipients, “Everybody Knew about it. Ottavio Quattrochi is one of the recipients. I would expect Ms. Gandhi to tell the gathering that she would bring Quattrochi from ltaly and have him prosecuted here, But all she wants to know is who killed her husband.”

“By July 1993,” he said, “the Government was informed through the report that crime syndicates and mafia organizations had developed links with government functionaries and political personalities. But the government did not act at all on the report in these two years. It did not have the moral Courage to point finger at even one person.
