LUCKNOW: Former Premier V P Singh Monday said the Janata Dal would demand the dismissal of the Congress (I) government at the center if it did not take steps to prevent demolition of temples by the Vishwa Hindu Parishad in Ayodhya and ensure safety of the Babri-Masjid.

He told reporters here demolition of the temples in the area was “unconstitutional and illegal” as the case was pending in the court

He said his party would launch an agitation to save the temples and the Babri Masjid from October 28 next by staging Dharma’s at district level.

He urged the state government to reconstruct the temples, demolished around the shrine.

President of state unit of Janata Dal Rampoojan Patel said a meeting of his party will be held in the first week of November to finalize the Satyagraha program at Ayodhya.

Singh and Patel condoled the death of several hundred people in earth quake in the Himalayan region of the state.

Patel urged the MPs and legislators of his party to donate one month’s salary for the help of the earthquake victims.
