MADRAS: Tamil Nadu Chief Minister] Jayalalitha surprised the Opposition in the State Assembly with her assertion on March 18 that she had never supported the December 6 kar seva at Ayodhya even as the issue cropped up for the third successive day.
Congress members were on their feet and tension ran high when she charged the Center with failing to protect the Babri Masjid. What was the Center doing for five hours while the shrine was being pulled down, she asked amid loud protests from Congress members.
The House once again witnessed noisy scenes when Thirunavukarasi said Jayalalitha was the only Chief Minister who had supported the kar seva at the denoted site in Ayodhya.
