TYLER: TEXAS: On February 12, 1986, SIFE—Students in Free Enterprise of Jarvis Christian College made presentations of their projects: “Free Enterprise,” “Introduction to SIFE,” and “Halt the Deficit.” At9:00 a.m., SIFE members organized a DISPLAY of their projects in the central comer of the lobby of the Science and Business Education Building at Texas College, Tyler, Texas, on the right hand side of the display, one table was set for the distribution of literature on Free Enterprise, SIFE—Students in Free Enterprise, “Halt the Deficit,” and “SIFECAW: Citizens Against Waste.” Miss Joanner Hawkins distributed literature to each student, faculty or staff member who came by. The SIFE display attracted many students, staf, and faculty, On the left side of display, there were three tables and chairs to provide the following services; credit card applications and assistance in completing the form, sale of SIFE Bumper stickers, and collection of signature for SIFE— CAW Petitions. These responsibilities were assumed by the following SIFE members of Jarvis: Miss Angela Thomas, Mr, Paul Allen, Miss Veronica Grant, Mr. Kenneth Coleman, and Miss Valesha Stephens. Camera coverage of the function was provided by Mr. Matt Hopkins from 9:00 a.m. until 3:00 pm.

From 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. the auditorium of the Science and Business Building was filled to capacity with students, faculty, and staff. Mr. Ron C. Bell presented the basics of the Free Enterprise System by emphasizing such principles as Institution of Private Property, Freedom of Choice, Competition, Role of the Invisible Hand in the Market System, and Laissez Faire. Mr. Pritpal Singh Chatha, SIFE sponsor, showed a recorded program of SIFE Orientation and “Halt the Deficit.” The audience’s positive and overwhelming response indicated that they enjoyed the presentations, more than 400 persons received information about Free Enterprise, SIFE, SIFECAW, and Deficit Budget and its present and future effects on. the economy.

‘The SIFE VISIT to Texas College ‘was an educational experience and gave the SIFE members an opportunity to share knowledge and experience with members of a neighboring institution. Mr. Chatha, SIFE sponsor, left required information for organizing SIFE at Texas College with Mrs Nan McDavid, Business Education Instructor. Buttars Celebrate Golden Marriage Anniversary

‘Connecticut: S. Balwant Singh Buttar and Sardarni Bhagwant Kaur Buttar celebrate their golden marriage Jubilee on March 5, 1986. Mr. Buttar retired as Deputy Director Agriculture, Punjab. He has two sons, one daughter and six grandchildren. His one son is in Connecticut and the other is in Indiana, His daughter is married to an Indian Army Officer. Mr. Buttar is a committed Sikh and is active even at 73 in promoting Sikh cause.
