UNITED NATIONS: Iraq insisted Nov.231992 it had complied with the terms of the Persian Gulf War cease-fire and asked that painful economic sanctions are lifted but the Security Council rebuffed the appeal.
Deputy Prime Minister Tariq Aziz also accused the Security Council for genocide against the Iraqi people.
It was the second time in eight months that Aziz pleaded Iraq’s case before the council. Iraq asks progressive relaxation of the embargoes it satisfies cease-fire terms and other U.N. resolutions.
