NEW DELHI: Chief Election Commissioner T.N Seshan stuck to his guns on the issue of multipurpose identity cards for voters categorically rejecting the banana excuse of paucity of resources and the recommendation made at the Chief ministers’ conference here that the identity card scheme be implemented in a phased manner.
I won’t phase it you face it the CEC declared at a Press conference here last week reiterating that if the cards were not provided to all voters by Jan.1,1995 no election anywhere in the country Would be announced after that date.
