BOMBAY (PTI): Thirty crew members and the wife and daughter of the chief engineering officer of the “Vishwa Mohini,” a shipping corporation of India cargo vessel, were feared dead when it sank off the northern Spanish coast April 12. Fifteen others were rescued while the fate of the remaining three passengers is not known, According to the SCI officials, the crew hailed from Calcutta and one of them identified as Sajjad Khan was declared dead. Of the 15 rescued by helicopters, eight were hospitalized in the Spanish port of Gijon, and the rest lodged at a hotel, SCl officials stated here. According to the Spanish teletext television poor visibility was hampering search operations. The vessel, whose last port of call was middles borough in the United Kingdom and was heading for Bombay, ran into very rough weather and icy winds at a spot 15 nautical miles off the northern Spanish coast, The 13 ton cargo in one hold was tossed up and down in rough weather.
