NEW DELHI(PTI): Indian premier P.V.Narasimha Rao March 18 categorically said the government would not allow “takeover” of the country’s prestigious public sector undertaking Bharat Heavy Electricals to (BHEL) by multinationals, Rao said it had been government’s policy to protect public sector undertakings and whatever protection available as per rules, the BHEL would continue to enjoy it, Regarding import of ABB locomotives despite BHEL having developed capacity to manufacture high tech electric locomotives, Rao said any decision to import was taken alter weighing all pros and cons. If railway decided to import a particular type of locomotives, it was only with overall interests of the railways and the country in the long run.
