NEW DELHI: India has expressed its concern over the recent resolution on Kashmir that was passed by the Organization of Islamic Conference (OIC) and which Pakistan was instrumental in pushing through saying that this would encourage Islamabad to sponsor terrorism and subversion.

India has cautioned Pakistan which is sending a special envoy to New Delhi on Aug. 18 that the resolution would have no effect on India’s position on Kashmir OIC has no locus standi in this matter the official spokesman of the external affairs said on Friday.

Expressing the hope that the Pakistani foreign secretary Shahyar Khan who is coming here as the special envoy of the Pakistani Prime Minister would come with realistic and specific suggestions for resolving critical issues affecting Indo-Pak relations the spokesman said that Pakistan should keep in mind the principles which should govern relations between slates particularly in the concept of territorial integrity and non-interference in each other’s internal affairs.

We have and will continue to reject all efforts to treat the situation in Kashmir as a religious issue he said.

There were several pending questions which despite an agreement in principle and India’s persistent efforts had not been brought within the ambit of bilateral dialogues so far the spokesman said.

India had also noted slippages by Pakistan in scheduling discussions on issues like the Tulbul fiver navigation project and the demarcation of the boundary in the Sir Creek area on which decisions had already been agreed to
