KABUL: Indian airlines office and the house of an Indian Embassy employee were targets of looting by some armed men here on April 30. The mission has taken up the matter with the authorities.
According to airlines sources, the main door of the office was found blown open by gunfire April 30 and currency notes, mostly US $ dollars, were found missing.
The Indian embassy official, who did not want to be identified, reported that armed men, who looked like Mujahideen, entered his house and took away a television set, VCR and other goods at gunpoint.
Recently, there have been a sprate of looting in a number of diplomatic missions here. Some Cuban and Czech embassy personnel were held up for hours on Thursday and made to part with whiskey and cigarettes,
Indian ambassador Vijay Nambiar, and Pakistan charge D Affaires Fida Yunis April 30 jointly called for the Afghan foreign ministry and asked it to lake steps for to ensure that such incidents do not recur.
According to Afghan sources, the foreign ministry officials in turn reported that they had one of their cars stolen. A car from the Pakistan mission has also been stolen.
