NEW DELHI (PTI): India’s 235Tun victory over Sri Lanka in the second test in Colombo August 1 was its 13 test win abroad.

The team had to struggle for 26 tests through seven years before tasting the joy of victory once again with Mohammed Azharuddin as Captain. Its last win before that was against England at leads in 1986, again with an impressive 279run margin, according to statistician Pervez Qaiser.

India’s first ever win abroad was under the leadership of Mansur Ali Khan Pataudi and it was achieved against New Zealand at Dunedin in 196768. The margin of victory was five wickets.

Of the 13 wins so far, four have been against New Zealand, three each against England and Australia, two against the west Indies and now once against Sri Lanka.
