MADISON, (N.J.): India shares the lead with New Zealand, in the intercontinental cup (World Cup qualifying rounds), at the Drew University grounds here. Both of them have 6 points each but India is in first position because of a better goal average.
India has won all the three games played by them. In the opener trey beat France on July 6 by 4 goals to one. In the next game they trounced Chile 60. Indians overcame tough opposition from Poland on July 9 by beating tier 20.
India will now play Egypt and New Zealand. A victory, in either of these will enable it to compete in te World Cup to be held in February 1990 in Pakistan. The tournament concludes on July 16.
