UNITED NATIONS: (PTI): Objections by India to any attempts at-internationalizing the question of river waters, have prompted Bangladesh to revise a resolution on its natural disasters which was adopted by the U.N. General Assembly yesterday.

India was reportedly unhappy at what it saw as Dacca’s attempt to internationalize the river waters issue which the two countries have been discussing bilaterally. Last week in the Assembly Bangladesh sought international support to back regional cooperation. In solving its flood problem.

Bangladesh later clarified that it was not seeking to criticize or embarrass India. It then circulated a resolution on short, medium and long term solutions to the problems of natural disasters it faces.

India is understood to have objected to certain portions of the draft resolution which implied that somehow it (India) is responsible for floods in Bangladesh. Indian objections were conveyed to several countries which cosponsored the resolution, according to diplomatic sources,
