WASHINGTON: A known supporter of the pro Khalistan lobby, Congressman Philip M. Crane, RIL has urged the United States to clamp an embargo against Indian companies and products to punish New Delhi for its alleged “brutal treatment of Sikhs, detention of Balbir Singh Dhillon, and the beating up of London based Khalistan leader Jagjit Singh Chohan.” He also called on the Government of India to take action against former Prime Minister Narasimha Rao and his role in the Delhi riots following the assassination of former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi, Rao was then home minister in the Indira Gandhi cabinet.
In a statement before the House, which appeared in the *Congressional Record’ Sept. 26, Crane also expressed his happiness at the resignation of Rao as chief of the Congress party. “I am pleased that Rao, who dipped into the well of corruption too many times, is finally facing the consequences of his corruption. It is high time that he also faced the consequences of his brutal terror campaign against the Sikh nation. As home minister in 1984, Rao was the person who organized the Delhi massacres that killed 20,000 Sikhs. When will he be indicted for these crimes?” Crane asked.
The congressman said that India, which has voted against the U.S. several times in the United Nations and has also refused to sign the Comprehensive Test Ban Treaty, has to be taught a lesson. The best way to do it is to end American development aid to India and to speak out in favor of “Khalistan, Kashmir, Nagaland and all other seeking their freedom from India. Tyrants must know that America is on the side of freedom.”
