NEWDELHI(PTI): Id-E-Miladunnabi, the birthday of prophet Mohammed, was celebrated on Aug:3] with religious fervor and solemnity all over the country. Several functions, meetings and Congregations to discuss Prophet Mohammed’s life and message marked the day. Two processions were taken out in the capital to commemorate the prophet’s birth and advent of Islam. Reports of celebration of 1d-E-Milad have come in from several outer States, including Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra and Rajasthan.

Prophet Muhammed was born on the 12th day of Rabi Ul Awwal the third month of Islamic Hijnt calendar in 571 A.D. at Mecca, This, incidentally, is the same day when he passed away in 632 A.D,

The historic Jama Masjid and the narrow lanes around it in the walled city here, which were decorated, wore 4 festive look and hundreds of people participated in the pro cessions depicting the religious sites of Islam. A large number of Uleina, Imams, scholars and poets spoke at a convention held at the Fateh puri Masjid Monday night and prayed for universal peace, A langar was organized at the Mosque Tuesday morning.
