RANCHI: An indefinite curfew was clamped in the Doranda area of the Ranchi city in Bihar and police fired four rounds to disperse Hindu mobs who clashed and indulged in bomb throwing and arson, official reports said.
The violence erupted following an assault on a person belonging to the Muslim community,
The Ranchi deputy commissioner, Sudhir Prasad said at least six people were injured in the clash and police firing.
Prasad said the situation turned violent when rioters defied the shoot at sight orders and hurled bombs at the police.
Para military troops and police reinforcements have been deployed to maintain law and order.
