CHANDIGARH: The ruling Congress has bagged all the four Rajya Sabha seats unopposed from Haryana and Himachal Pradesh, with none of the opposition parties fielding candidates for the elections.

A former Haryana Chief Minister, Mr, B, Das Gupta and a former Deputy Chairman of the state planning board, Mr, Lachhman Singh, were elected to fill the two seats from Haryana about to be vacated by Mrs. Sushma Swaraj (BJP) and Mrs. Vidya Beniwal (SJP). A former Haryana Minister of State for Home, Mr. K.L, Poswal was elected against the vacancy caused by the death of former Union Minister, Dinesh Singh, last year, Mrs. Chandresh Kumari, a former Minister of State, was declared elected for the lone Rajya Sabha seat from Himachal Pradesh as there was no other candidate in the fray.
