Prince Rupert B.C. resident Hamek Brar, 39, is running from Kitimat to Prince Rupert to raise money for needy children by contributing to the Save Our Future, Run For the Children Society. Brar arrived in Prince Rupert on July 1 at the Sikh ‘Temple and City Hall. He raised $10,000. The run stems from a dream by Lion Kartar Ahluwalia to help needy children and was sponsored by the Indo Canadian Sikh Association. The total journey was 225 kilometers.

Assisting Mr. Brar on his run were a number of people, notably Mr. Jasminder Gill who ran beside him for a great deal of the route, Mr. Chamkaur Chahal, and Mr. Harwant Brar, Harnek’s 17 year old son.

A fabricator welder by trade who teaches the Punjabi language in his spare time Hamek has taken time off work to devote the past week to his Run.
