NEW DELHI, Guru Nanak Dev University moved into the semifinals of the North Zone Interuniversity Cricket Tournament here on Monday.

Guru Nanak Dev University outplayed Maharishi Dayan and University by 146 runs at the Khalsa College ground while Aligarh Muslim University downed last year’s runners-up Kurukshertra University by 92 runs at University ground.

Gurpreet Singh, slammed a splendid 101, inclusive of 15 hours and one six to help GND, batting first, to reach a total of 253 for nine in the stipulated 45 overs. Sapan Chopra with a painstaking 47, which included dive boundaries, was the other player who contributed to their total.

The Punjab Ranji player Krishan Mohan, with a deadly spell of 4 for 8 was responsible for sending MDU to their doom.
