NEW DELHI: Janata Dal said on Noy 21 the composition of the new cabinet only “confirms the general impressions” about it as a government of “disruptors, defectors and deserters.”

Party spokesman S. Jaipal Reddy told reporters that the cabinet could be broadly classified into three categories.

He said “there are people who voted against the V.P. Singh government on November 7. Then you have people who voted for V.P Singh government and were also “nimble enough” to vote for the Chandra Shekhar government.”

“You also have another category, namely, ShakeelUrRehman, who vote for the V.P.Singh government and against the Chandra Shekhar government and got into the cabinet” Reddy said.

Reddy said ShakeelUrRehman’s entry into the cabinet amounted to voluntary exit from the Janata Dal and an open and shut case of defection.

He said “we don’t call Chandra Shekhar’s party Janata Dal-S but Janata Dal-R (Rajiy Gandhi),

He said the merits of the government should be and would be credited to the account of Rajiv Gandhi.
