CHICAGO, ll. S. Gian Singh Sandhu took over as President World Sikh Organization (International) from S. Didar Singh Bains, the outgoing President, at a meeting of the international body held here on June 18, 1988. Dr. Manohar Singh Grewal was name Singh Bola and S. Amarjit Singh Buttar were appointed as Secretary and Treasurer respectively.

S. Didar Singh Bains was elected President on July 28, 1984, when the Umbrella body of the Sikhs was founded following Indian Army’s attack on the Golden Temple. During his four years of stewardship, the organization weathered many storms to finally emerge as the collective voice of the Sikhs in the Western hemisphere.
