NEW DELHI, Reuter: A gang beheaded a youth at a temple altar in northern India and offered his head as a sacrifice to a Hindu Goddess, an Indian newspaper said.
The Indian Express said the youth, Kripali, was returning home on Wednesday night with a colleague when the gang dragged him to a temple in a village in Uttar Pradesh.
Two members of the gang pinned him to the floor while a third cut of this head and offered it to the Goddess Sambha Devi, it said.
The practice of human sacrifice occurs sometimes in remote areas of India to propitiate a deity to gain a favors or ward off an evil.
