LOS ANGELES: The Sikh community of Southern California organized a fund raising dinner for Dr Gurmit Singh Aulakh of the Council of Khalistan at Riverside. It was a well-attended function with the highlight being Dr Aulakh’s speech.

He appealed to the Sikhs to “unite in the freedom struggle.

He said “we have made significant inroads in our uphill struggle for independence. We have made “giant strides the Indian government had never dreamed possible. Our success and determination surprises the Indian government because ‘it has forever underestimated the power of the Sikh ‘Nation. It forgets that the Sikhs ruled all of Punjab from 1770 to 1849, It forgets that the brave Sikh ‘warriors’ were the last to give into  the British imperialists and the first to lead the movement for the independence of the Indo-Pakistan  sub-continent .it forgets that over 85% of those hanged by the British were Sikhs. It forgets that at the time of the partition of the Indo Pakistan Sikhs in the Indian army comprised 50% of the officers, 38% of the air force and 33% of the soldiers. It forgets that though over 17 million Sikhs make up 2% of the population of India we are responsible for 26% of the GNP, we produce 73% of the wheat Reserve and 48% of the rice reserve.

The Indian government is surprised and scared. It is very scared. This is why they continue the relentless, brutal denial of human rights in Khalistan. This is why between 20 and 30 Sikhs are killed every day in Khalistan, This is why any Sikh who advocates Sikh independence in India is killed by the government. This is why over 95,000 of our breathren have been murdered by the Indian government since 1984.

Arrangements for the dinner were made by S Jasbir Singh Tung and’s Joginder Singh Sandhu.
