CHANDIGARH, India: Freedom fighters succeeded in jamming police wireless network in Amritsar district twice during the last ten days. On October 10, police wireless control rooms in Amritsar, Patt, Jhabbal and Tarn Taran were jammed, ‘When police officials enquired as to who was on the line, they received a crisp reply, “Khalistan Radio”. Police have not been able to figure out the people behind the wireless jams. Similarly on September 30 also, the complete wireless system of Amritsar was totally jammed and Khalistan Zindabad slogans were also heard over the system.

Punjab government has decided to seek army help in locating the illegal transmitter operating in that sector. Army has the requisite instruments and equipment to locate the illegal transmitter. Army sources disclosed that such jamming can be done by a small transmitter which can easily be transported from one place to another.

Meanwhile, no progress has been made in the investigation into the attack on Punjab Police Chief, Mr. J.F. Ribeiro, No clue has been found to suggest any particular group’s involvement. However, two constables belonging to that complex, who were on leave, have not yet reported back on duty, ‘They are constable Ajit Singh and Constable Sardul Singh. Police raided their homes but could not find them. Police suspect that they may be involved in the attack.
