GARTALA, India, Dec.,20, Reuter: Four people were killed in clashes between Communists and members of Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi’s ‘Congress (I) Party over the writing Of election slogans on walls in northeast India, police said on ‘Sunday.

Two Congress supporters and two Communists died in three incidents in Tripura State over seizing of walls to scrawl party slogans for state elections next February.

More than 30 people were injured; shops and offices have been shuttered in the Marxist ruled state for two days during a strike called by Congress to protest against attacks on its supporters.
