NEW DELHI, India, Sept.28, Reuter: Gunmen opened fire in a crowded market in the north Indian State of Punjab on Monday, killing at least four people, the Press Trust of India (PT!) said.

The news agency said the three escaped after the attack at Alawalpur in the northern part of the State which has been tom by 2 campaigns for an independent Sikh homeland.

More than 925 people have been killed in the ongoing violence this year.
