IOWA: A new report shows that as of December 1986, foreigners owned less than 1% of the privately owned agriculture land in the U.S.A. out of that only 17% was cropland, 52% was timber and 26% pastures. Apparently foreigners don’t think cropland is as good an investment as other investment opportunities available to them such as commercial real estate. Some of these foreign owners inherited such properties or own it in association with a U.S. relative or associate.
