FRESNO, CA: A diwan was held at Pacific Coast Khalsa Diwan Society Cruthers on February 18 to pay homage to Bhai Satwant Singh and Bhai Kehar Singh who. Were hung by the Indian government in connection with the assassination of former prime minister Indira Gandhi.
The function was jointly organized by all the Gurdwaras of Fresno including Pacific Coast Sikh Centre Gurdwara Sahib Selma, Gurdwara Sahib, Dakota Road Fresno, Guru Nanak Sikh Temple San Joaquin, Gurdwara Nanak Sar Fresno and the Pacific Coast Khalsa Diwan Society Cruthers.
Sangat from various parts of California came to attend the function and a number of people said they appreciated the joint program.
The Bhog of an akhand path, the continuous recitation of Guru Granth Sahib, was held for the peace ‘of the departed souls followed by Kirtan by Bhai Inderjit Singh Tulsi and Bhai Nirmal Singh Khalsa.
Dr. Gurcharan Singh Dhillon, President of the World Sikh Organization (USA), paid homage to the martyrs. “Sikh religion has been made for fighting injustice and we Sikhs have always paid the price for it. He further stated that after the massacre of Sikhs in Delhi in 1984, and the recent killings of Sikhs in Srinagar show that there is no alternative for the Sikhs but independent Khalistan.
Mr. Didar Singh Bains experiment of World Sikh Organization (International) paid Homage to the martyr and said that “we are proud of their sacrifice.
Dr. Gurinder Singh Grewal President of World Sikh News also paid homage to S. Satwant Singh and S. Kehar Singh and said that we can only achieve one goal of Independence by supporting the freedom fighter in Punjab.
Dr. Gurmit Singh Aulakh of Council of Khalistan Khalistan said that a bill is going to be introduced in the 101 congress session explaining the Excesses of the Indian government against Sikhs.
Mr, Gurman Singh Pamma, a Senior Vice President World Sikh Organization (USA), Mr. Harbans Singh Treasurer, World Sikh Organization and Mr. Mohinder Singh Sandhu paid homage to the martyr S. Satwant Singh and S. Kehar Singh and requested the whole Sikh nation to unite and fight against the Indian government to achieve the goal of Khalistan.
