CALCUTTA(PTI): The celebrity wagon of Indian film stars, led by Mithun Chakraborty, took to the streets of Calcutta to collect funds for the carthquake victims of Maharashtra, covering a distance of 15km and drawing 10,000 people. All along the route from Tollygunge, in south Calcutta, to Shyambazar five points crossing in the north, fans waited for hours 10 catch a glimpse of their favorite celluloid matinee idol.

The stars, including Soumitra Chatterjee, started off from Tollygunge in the morning at 1000 hours to reach Shyambazar 1700 hours, leaving in their wake stalled cars, buses and trams in traffic snarls, the police said.

The fund collection, organized by the cine technicians and workers union of eastern India, will go to the west Bengal Maharashtra government.
