Chandigarh: The Punjab Government has _ invited Field Marshal F.H.S.A. Manekshaw for discussion on rehabilitation of the Army deserters. Mr. Major Singh Uboke Revenue and Civil defense minister stated at Ludhiana that discussions with the Field Marshall would be held at Chandigarh. The deserter issue. Field Marshal was un committal and his attention was drawn to the issue. It is believed that he will take up the matter with the Government of India at the appropriate level.
The Punjab Government has requested off the concerned authority for given special treatment to the convicted army deserters who are being transferred to civil jails.
